During his visit to Nigeria Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Sergiy Kyslytsya met with Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Nigeria Nnenna Elendu-Ukeje and Chairman of the Committee on Interparliamentary Relations of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Nigeria Ikon Samuel.

During the meeting the sides discussed the state and prospects of Ukraine-Nigeria cooperation, in particular, in education, trade and economy.

Deputy Minister Sergiy Kyslytsya stressed that Ukraine considers Nigeria that is Africa’s largest economy as an important partner of Ukraine on the African continent.

The parties noted the necessity of cooperation between the parliaments of Ukraine and Nigeria, as well as the important role of parliaments of both countries in the intensification of the entire spectrum of bilateral cooperation.

Special attention during the meeting was given to the establishment of Ukraine-Nigeria Inter-Parliamentary Group of Friendship in the Parliaments of Ukraine and Nigeria. Deputy Minister Sergiy Kyslytsya handed in the letter from the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Hanna Hopko to the Nigerian counterpart.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Sergiy Kyslytsya expressed gratitude to the Nigerian side for the consistent support of territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, in particular, within the United Nations.
