A meeting with Bila Tserkva National Agrarian University (Ukraine) was held on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 and was attended by Mr.Sergii Derevianko, International Director, Dr. Osaze Iyalekhue Sylvester, Representative in Ukraine from Institute of Science and Technology Yenagoa (Nigeria), and Mr. Igor PASKA, PhD, Associated Professor, Vice-Rector of Agrarian University and  Mr. Olexandr Bonkovski, Head of international department in Meeting room of  Central Administration Building of Bila Tserkva National Agrarian University.

The Bila Tserkva National Agrarian University is a powerful regional research and education center with the history dating back to 1630.

10 faculties of the University offer education in agronomy, veterinary medicine, bio-technology, ecology, law, linguistics, post diploma training, preparatory courses and extension courses.

The University hosts 5 research institutes, 13 research laboratories, Institute of post diploma education for managers and specialists in veterinary medicine, Institute of European Integration, Education and Research Institute of Economics and Business, 8 colleges, research establishments and production enterprises.

The total number of students is more than 10000. The teaching staff consists of 12 academicians, 54 doctors of sciences, professors, 257 candidates of sciences, 13 Honoured Scientists of Ukraine.

For education of highly qualified professionals, an education and production center is created on the basis of the Education and Research Centre. The total area of the Centre is 1716,9 ha, including arable land – 1123,5 ha, hayfields – 12,1 ha, pastures – 85,2 ha, perennial plantings – 74,9 ha, forests – 270,5 ha. The centre has become a training ground for students and for implementation of innovative technologies in crops production and animal husbandry.

The University’s has 29 priority directions for international scientific cooperation, which will be realized via the programs like: EU FP7, TEMPUS, Fulbright, NASEE (aquaculture centers of Central and Eastern Europe), Interstate research program of veterinary parasitology, individual mobility grants and programs.

In the meeting, Mr.Sergii Derevianko expressed Institute of Science and Technology Yenagoa’s interest in cooperating with Ukrainian side, especially in the field of undergraduate training, vocational training, research, joint publication of books, monographs in the field of Agriculture. At this time Bila Tserkva National Agrarian University has few innovative areas to collaborate in, namely: 1. Veterinary medicine, 2. Biotechnology and 3. Cattle breeding, poultry industry and fishery. In addition Ukrainian side showed interest to run joint programs to train students from Nigeria on associate’s level (1-2 years course) which will enable them to get specialty in agriculture, such as car repair technician, electrician, installer of industrial fridges, animal technician, etc.

Furthermore, to facilitate cooperation, Institute of Science and Technology and Bila Tserkva National Agrarian University agreed to continue agreement in the form of MoU, Student recruitment, Exchange and organization of Joint seminars, workshops and conferences, both in Nigeria and Ukraine.8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1
